Create a Live Stream

Learn how to create a live stream in seconds

Setting up a live stream on Gumlet is like eating candy. With just two clicks, you're ready to perform.

Getting started

  1. Navigate to Live Streams > Collections.
  2. In the next step, select the resolutions at which you want your live stream to be displayed.
    1. Choose orientation based on your platform.

    2. You can pick a start time. This will help you create a live stream in advance. You can create live stream hours/days in advance and Start Stream just before going live.

Note: this won't auto-start the live stream. You need to start manually from the dashboard.

  1. When you create a Stream, you will get the stream server URL and stream key for ingestion through a tool of your choice.
  2. Go to OBS settings > Stream and copy & paste the server URL and key from the Gumlet streaming settings page.
  1. Add thumbnails to display a special message (visual banner or image) on the live stream. You can add three types of thumbnails to a live stream:

    1. Pre‑stream: When the stream hasn’t started yet, but you’ve already embedded or shared it with your audience, they will see this banner. It is mostly used to share speaker details, content information, etc.
    2. Disconnected: When the stream is disconnected from your ingestion tool, the video will show the disconnected banner (if you have uploaded one). This is a great way to inform your audience about any technical difficulties.
    3. Post‑stream: This banner appears after the stream is completed. It’s a good time to highlight offers, new products, or details about your next session.

    📘

Pre-stream and Post-stream thumbnails only work with Gumlet Player.

  2. Click on Start Streaming button on the OBS and your stream will start.

  3. Click on Start Stream button on the live stream details page on the Gumlet dashboard.

  4. You can copy the embed code from the Gumlet Dashboard and embed it on your website, app, or any other desired location.

Your audience will be able to see the live content.

  2. Click on the Complete Stream button on the live stream page (in the top-right corner) on Gumlet.
