Channel Membership

Gumlet allows you to make channels private or public and invite members.

Channel membership is Gumlet’s feature to help video courses and content creators. Many independent creators told us that integrating high-level security features like DRM and dynamic watermarks without developers was challenging at times.

That's why we created a “Patreon-like” channel membership with Gumlet to solve this. Here is how it works:

  • Video collections are the top-level structure to organize videos.
  • Each video collection can have one video channel. Video channels can be public or private.
  • Using playlists (like folders), you can choose which videos from the collection appear on the channel.

Public Channels

Public channels are the ones where any user can subscribe to view your channel without you needing to invite them. You can still view who joined your channel and when add content to the channel, users are notified about new content.

Public channels are useful if you want to get user-level analytics data while keeping your content free and open for everyone to view. You can attach a custom domain to your channel to ensure you get the SEO advantages of hosting channels on your domain.

Private Channels

If you make a channel private, you can invite users Only the invited users can view the videos on a channel. Because the channels are hosted on Gumlet, you can easily enable high-level security features like DRM with just a click.

This ensures you can easily sell your courses online with Gumlet and make sure your content always remains accessible to only those who have subscribed.

There are already a few ways to customize how the channel looks. (Channel Customization)
